In the streets of the French capital, 8,000 police and armoured vehicles have long been deployed to prevent violence.
French Interior Minister Christof Kastane says 135 people were injured in protests in Paris, including 17 police officers.
Violence is now “under control”, arresting almost a thousand protesters.
The media report that the protest is several hundred metres from the Elysee Palace, the residence of French President Emmanuel Macron.
