Former Commander of The Sylejman Selimi KLA has reacted to the Supreme Court's recent decision, which rejected his parole request.
In his letter, addressed to lawyer Tome Gashi, Selimi suggested he has made a decision from now on not to have legal representation, as that process against him is mounted by local and international politicians.
In the handwritten letter, Selimi says that injustice to him will prove the time and that those who attended this political assembly by interfering in justice will one day be ashamed before their families and the citizens of this country. Time will testify”.
Below, you can read Selimi's letter written in Dubrava Prison:
Your Honour, Tome Gashi...
I want to thank you, lawyer Smith and lawyer Dobruna.
For the uncomfortable work you've done for five years by making your contribution to the court process, both in Drenica 1 and 2, even though it was only Drenica but was unjustly divided.
You and the defense team made an extraordinary contribution during hearings to prove my innocence and group Drenica1 and 2, and you helped the judicial body come true in my case. But, unfortunately, the whole process from the beginning had been unfair, unilateral and, above all, political. The chairman of EULEX's court himself argued that. Malcolm Simmons.
Unfortunately, the whole process against me is emerging as a process set up by local and international politicians. I've been asking myself why I've been stumbled on my way to the state-building processes before and after the war. I was a host of institutions and co-operatives as responsible for international security, but also with local security responsibilities. All my activity has been in service of my country. To have a free country, democratic serving every citizen, indiscriminately, a country where the rights of all citizens are respected indiscriminately - a law - ruling country that I have respected and respected. But I am disappointed in the justice of my country where I have served them all my life with dignity until self - sacrifice before and during the war for our people under the organisation of the KLA as its commander.
Honored lawyer Tome Gashi, I have made a decision from today that I will not have legal representatives further, from today I don't want to have a defence lawyer, I regret that you've been extremely active, in protecting my innocence and in fact witnessing you've done everything you can to help justice (its people) to do justice.
This is not happening until we have a decision by the Constitutional Court of the country which is also the highest legal body and then does not apply what to say what to ask, where to seek justice? Where? Politics.
No, never.
Honored Toma, I don't need a lawyer until politics and politicians in particular decide who and certain people will be held in isolation.
Once again I thank you and the entire defense team and the lawyers of the other accused in Drenica 1 and 2 for your contribution and effort to clarify the truth that proves our innocence. The Drenica 1 and 2.
Honored lawyers in this court trial had no justice, but we are all of the reconciliation that it has been prepared and politically installed and that time will prove. And for those who have been involved in this political assembly by interfering in justice one day they have to be ashamed before their families and the citizens of this country. Time will testify. Once again, thank you for the entire defense team (an honorable attorney) of the Drenica 1st instance. I have begged all those who in some form are remembering my name, not to mention it, and forget it exists. Justice sooner or later will speak its word respectfully, Sylejman Selimi, Dubrava.
Respectfully Sylejman Selimi
