The Swiss Federal Council has approved an agreement with Kosovo today, which regulates the payment of social insurance, after several years of interruption, writes Swiss media, records albinfo.ch.
The content of the agreement corresponds to other Swiss-related social security agreements and is based on international standards, albinfo.ch further informs. This also means that IV and AHV payments will now be paid again in this Balkan state.
Currently, Kosovo citizens do not accept their pensions abroad. At their request, however, there may be a need to repay contributions from the AHV.
Kosovars who have not done so, from the entry into force of the contract may demand contributions by 2010, further broadcast Albbinfo.ch. However, the deal also contains a basis for fighting abuses.
The agreement has not yet entered into force. Initially, it must be approved by the parliaments of contracting states.
Kosovo is the only successor state of the former Yugoslavia, with which Switzerland so far had no contractual relations in the area of social security.
