The longest people are at greater risk of contracting cancer, a study of more than one million people shows.
Past reports have reached the same conclusion, but should long people worry about it?
Experts stress that the results show only a very small increase in risk compared to factors such as smoking, the BBC writes.
The main theory is that tall people have more cells that can turn into cancer.
Report author Dr Leonard Nunney told the BBC that a person's risk factor depends on their exact height.
If average women have contracted cancer, then 60/500 long females (178 cm) will be expected to receive cancer. If you consider a very long woman, say 6ė2, then she'll be 67 / 500. ”
What do experts think?
Length is just one of many factors that determine the risk of a person's cancer and is definitely not great. Plus it cannot be modified, unlike life risk factors, such as body weight.
Experts say the key to increasing chances of avoiding illness is living a healthy lifestyle.
Georgina Hill, from Cancer Research UK, told the BBC: the increased “risk is small and what you can do to reduce the risk of developing cancer is not smoking and maintaining a healthy body weight”. /Periscopi/
