In these cold winter days, you try to get as thick as you can to face the cold. For women this means wearing two sweaters, three pairs of ghettos, jeans, vests, coats, etc. Of course, you feel a little jealous when you see that your partner only needs a jacket and sweater not to feel the cold. Stop discussing this as a two - sex difference dispute, there are scientific reasons that explain this phenomenon.
According to a study by Maryland School of Medicine, this is because females have slower metabolism than men. A total of 120 volunteers of different nationalities aged 40 attended the study. The results showed that males had a metabolic rate of about 23% higher than that of women. They have a greater muscle mass that generates warmth, while the body mass of women is less active and generates cold. As a result, they are more predisposed to feel cold than men.
Another interesting outcome of this study showed that women who practice contraceptives were colder than women who did not use them. Hormones found in these pills affect body temperature, making it more sensitive to cold.
