Ombudsman Hilmi Jashar in a statement issued to Periscopi has indicated that the former commander of the commander will be visited in prison next week. Hi, Sylejman Selimi. Jashari has told Periscope that the institution he heads has visited Selimi in prison at other times, without any calls from MPs.
We have visited him before, without any calls, Sylejman Selimi and others. It was visited in December, then in March of this year and was scheduled to visit the coming weeks”, Yasar told Periscopi.
On the other hand, he has indicated that in the past when they visited, they interviewed Selimi and other members of the group regarding conditions and treatment in prison in general, which he says had no complaints before.
Perhaps most disturbing was the Supreme Court's final decision. But he has not complained about conditions or treatment in prison. We have not yet addressed Sylejman Selimi's entire legal aspect, but there has been no claim to the judicial procedure. In decisions we are not allowed to intervene”, he added.
Jashar also spoke of Selim's recent decision to have no lawyer in the process against him.
I can't help but appreciate how much this process can be affected by the fact that he's asked not to have a lawyer, but I think there can't be a correct and fair process, which corresponds to international standards. We have no authorisation to assess the frustration that he may have toward the whole process, but we assess the process on the basis of respecting the guaranteed procedures with the Constitution”, Jashar said further to Periscope.
On the other hand, yesterday in the Kosovo Assembly, AAKA MP Daut Haradinaj has called on the ombudsman's institution to visit Sylejman Selimi in prison to see the conditions and treatment being made there.
On the other hand, the reaction came from Selimi's lawyer, Tome Gashi, who had said he is failing to understand how it is possible for Selim to be held in prison without a judicial decision.
Former Commander of The Sylejman Silejman Selimi KLA has responded to the Supreme Court's recent decision, which rejected his parole request. In his letter, addressed to lawyer Tome Gashi, Selimi suggested he has made a decision from now on not to have legal representation, as that process against him is mounted by local and international politicians.
In the handwritten letter, Selimi says that injustice to him will prove the time and that those who attended this political assembly by interfering in justice will one day be ashamed before their families and the citizens of this country. Time will testify”. / P ERISCOPIA
