Only in the past five years, over 30,000 Kosovo citizens have applied to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to stop figuring out as citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to statistics this ministry possesses, almost every year, over 5 thousand Kosovo citizens give up their citizenship.
MPB Information Office Director Roxana Charles said that by October, about 5,000 people have made such requests.
“over the January-October 2018 period of the Republic of Kosovo citizenship has freed 4831 people. Of them, 2322 are female, and 2509 males”, the Charles stressed.
She has cited some of the reasons applicants make such an important decision.
“The reason to give up the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo comes as a result of gaining the citizenship of any European Union country, which does not allow two citizenship for citizens of states that are not the part of the European Union”, the Charles has said further.
In contrast to giving up citizenship, the smaller multiple have applied to be equipped with citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to Charles, during the January-October 2018, the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo has been acquired by 298 people -- Albanian 200; Serbian ʹ 12; Turkish é 5 and other dealt with 81.
