France's President Emmanuel Macron has rebuked protesters who clashed with police in Paris during the recent protest against rising fuel prices.
“Turp for those who attacked security forces, shame for those who were violent towards citizens and journalists”, has written today on Twitter Macron, as protests held Saturday in Paris turned into violent protests.
Over 100 thousand people took part in protests in about 1,600 protests across France, the Interior Ministry has announced. Most of the protests have been peaceful, except in Paris, where about 80,000 protested.
Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse protesters in Champs-Elyses.
Officials say in the protests, 19 people have been injured, including four policemen. Meanwhile, 40 others have been arrested.
