These statements were made during a media conference, which among other things called the decision on tax hikes ad-hoc. According to Kurti, to prevent access to Serbia's products in Kosovo, they must initially be boycotted.
“We believe that positive effects should be expected from the 100 per cent tax, although the method is not adequate and preparations are missing, I mean that instead of full political, economic reciprocity between Kosovo and Serbia that would come from determining for the integrity and state dignity of our country, a 100 per cent tax, which is more, let's say a tactical fine or a desperate act due to the conduct of Serbia, especially with the case of Kosovo's non-membership in Interpol<1>, Kurti has said.
Regarding Albania's Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj's statements, Kurti has said that in foreign policy against Serbia, Albania must stand by Kosovo, but here has ruled out Kosovo President Hashim Thaci.
“We believe that the Republic of Albania with its foreign policy should follow Kosovo, but here I have to say, maybe not its president, so the Republic of Albania, in its foreign policy over Serbia, should nevertheless be measured to have the republic of Kosovo”, Kurti has said.
Kurti has also said that Kosovo must be full reciprocity against Serbia.
