Haradinaj: Let Justice Speak the Last Word for Veterans

Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj says he does not know the exact number of war veterans in Kosovo.

In an interview for Kosovo, he claims the lists have been found there when he became chairman of the government and does not speak if there are abuses until justice makes any decisions.

He does not even say the number of fighters he had in the region that he led during the war, but declares that no one should plead for the KLA war and conclude how many fighters they have been.

I don't know, I never had the exact number. I was not part, but I led the war to a certain area. The exact number I've never identified, except there's been a lot in Dukagjin, and I think there's been after mostly in Kosovo. I don't know the trust numbers, because I haven't measured them, I never made it to the record. I know there's a lot, somewhere with mine, I'm talking... And I respect everyone who was at war, everyone. I don't know if it's puffy, because we, look, you come out or we even say puffy (list) how? But you built a mechanism. That mechanism has brought you a list. That list came according to the law, until it's another find, I don't know if it's puffed or blown”, he said.

Haradinaj says there may be abuses, but says justice is in place. He remembers he didn't make the list, but he found it there. As head of government, he claims he is obliged to execute each pension.

There may be abuses, but I don't appreciate them being puffed up or blown out. There's a commission, there's a court, let's find the truth... If governments before me have built a mechanism that values who are veterans, according to the law and parliament has voted the law, and that number was found, now I think, is not a matter of opinion... Haradinaj for Kosova Pres claims the Prosecutor has asked him about investigating veterans' lists and he has given him permission. I insist that the final decision must be handed down to justice until then, he refuses to declare whether there has been a swelling list.

I found a prosecutor at the table. He said we were investigating, I told him to take it, investigate. If the court, the country's court, says something else, I will respect it, that I have no way to go, but I don't accept anyone coming to me with my mind, puffed up and blown out, that, because you want to protect Kosovo. From whom would you protect me?
