The Democrats of the Intelligence Committee in the House of Representatives will investigate President Trump's position regarding the killing of Saudi journalist as part of an investigation into ties between the United States and Saudi Arabia.
Adam Schiff, representative of California Democrats, told the newspaper “The Washington Post” that the committee will investigate the assessment of American intelligence for the death of Khashogg, the war in Yemen, the stability of the royal family and the treatment the country makes to critics and the press. On the other hand, the White House has not commented on this statement.
Schiff is expected to become chairman of the committee in January next year, and this will enable the Democrats to conduct research for Trump and his administration, including the obligation to present themselves to the committee and hold hearing sessions. “Of course we will investigate more about the killing of Khashogg. We want to find out what the intelligence community knows about this killing”, said the Democrat Schiff.
He said his team would investigate the CIA findings as well as the impact of Trump's private financial relations on his position on the journalist's murder. “There are several possibilities for financial conflicts of interest that Congress should consider well. We need to find out if American politics is being led by foreign investments in Trump business”, he said.
On the other hand, President Trump officially still owns his businesses, though he has said he is leaving control over others. In 2015, he had said that he earns millions of dollars from purchases coming from Saudi Arabia, writes the Guardian”
