Can a child's birthday be threatened by a diagnosis of hyperactivity deficit attention disorder? The answer seems to be yes.
The findings, published on November 28, in The New England Journal of Medicine, show that children born in August in those countries are 30 percent more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD, compared to their slightly older peers recorded in the same generation.
In 2016 alone, more than 5 percent of U.S. children were actively treated with anti - medicine ADHD.
Experts believe that growth has been driven by a combination of factors, including a greater knowledge of the disorder, a real increase in the incidence of the situation, and in some cases misdiagnosis.
The results of the new study underline that at least in part of primary school students, the diagnosis factor may be enrolling in elementary school before time, the research team said.
