Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, said today that his country commits itself to a compromise solution for Kosovo, but that doesn't mean Serbia should lose everything, while warning that there will never be recognition of Kosovo's independence under pressure from the international community.
He made these comments today at a media conference after the end of the Security Forum in Belgrade.
Speaking of dialogue with Pristina and reaching an inclusive agreement that would lead to the normalisation of both countries, the head of the Serbian state said his country is compromise to resolve the Kosovo issue, but does not imply that Serbs should lose everything.
Serbia is always ready to work on a compromise to resolve the Kosovo issue for solving our problems, but Serbia cannot be the country and the Serbian people cannot be the people to lose altogether and be guilty”, Vuciq said.
He reiterated Belgrade's official stance that there will be no recognition of Kosovo's independence under international pressure.
“We want to talk to Albanians, we always want to talk to Albanians about resolving the problem. I want you to understand that Serbia has its own interest and Serbia does not see Kosovo as independent and sovereign territory. We have different positions with Albanians in Kosovo, and that is why we have to sit down and talk. We really want to reach compromise, agreement, but one must understand someone in the world and Albanians that Serbia has its own interest. The power that forces Serbia to accept Kosovo as a state will not happen”, he said.
Vuciq has spoken even about possible Kosovo membership in Interpol in November.
Whenever they leave, there are countless problems and, on the day they enter Interpol, you will see thousands of commands against the Serbs, all imagined, arrest, engage and beat, and then release six months of”, he said.
Vuciq also said he will do everything he can to prevent Kosovo peacefully from forming the military. He added that he is waiting to see what will be done in Kosovo's parliament today with proposals on transforming KSF into the army and whether Americans will support it.
We have problems that Americans are pushing these things into Kosovo that are a serious problem for us. We will do our best to maintain peace and stability and protect the interest of the Serbian people, who will not be easy”, he said.
Moreover, President Vuciq said all countries in the region need a peace and would be better off if there were open borders, investments and free movement of goods, as he said, guarantees a better future for all.
