Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq said Wednesday that the US call for the withdrawal of the UN peacekeeping mission from Kosovo would leave Serbia with no choice but to protect its people in Kosovo.
Vuciq did not specifically say what kind of action Serbia can take in Kosovo.
His threat comes after the call made by US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley to process “the UN Mission's display strategy to Kosovo known as UNMIK, the Voice of America reports.
President Vuciq said leaving UNMIK and the possible formation of the Kosovo Army would leave Serbia no other choice, but to protect the country and its people, as he put it.
UNMIK was deployed in Kosovo in 1999, following NATO's intervention to curb Serbia's tough measures against Kosovo Albanians.
