Monaco prince starts two-day visit to Albania

The prince of Monaco, Albert II, began a two-day visit to our country today, the first visit by a monarch of the Royale of Monaco to Albania.

Following the welcoming and execution ceremonies of both countries, President Meta and Prince Albert II held a face-to-face meeting and then chaired the expanded meeting between the two official delegations.

Meta praised Prince Albert of II's visit to Albania and underlined that, in these seven years of diplomatic relations, co-operation between the Republic of Albania and the Principate of Monaco has developed very positively.

Prince Albert's second “is a clear expression of common will and will to further promote and develop these relations”, President Meta underlined.

The Albanian president praised the importance of concrete co-operation in areas where Monaco's experience and expertise is well known internationally, both in tourism and in environmental protection, development of green economy, innovation and technology, in financial services, professional training and in other areas of interest.

The head of state also called for the promotion of Monaco's business to explore and invest in the Albanian market.

Referring to the Mediterranean affiliation of the two countries, President Meta and Prince Albert II of Monaco highlighted the need to boost co-operation in the field of environmental protection and biodiversity.

Meta expressed gratitude for the support the Prince of Monaco Foundation and the Association for Sustainable Funding of Marine Protection Areas in the Mediterranean are giving Albania's responsible facilities and associations for protecting and promoting Albanian natural resources and protected maritime zones.

The two heads of State praised commitments under the Paris Clima Agreement, underlining interest in closely co-operating in this direction.

President Meta and Prince Albert of II expressed both international co-operation and confirmed the importance of co-operation between the two countries in all international organisations, in the interest of peace, stability and sustainable development.

At the end of the official talks, in the presence of both US leaders, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the foreign ministers of the two countries, through which the parties agree to identify specific areas of co-operation and further promote them.

Also signed was a financing agreement between Monaco's Prince Albert Foundation II with Vlora Regional Protection Area Administration and the Association for the Protection of Natural Resources “Pisa Flamur”.
