At the end of this year, there will be a decade since Kosovo government governments promise visa liberalisation with the European Union. These promises are being assessed as the citizens' fraud to preserve the votes of the ruling parties.

The latest statement by European Integration Minister Hoxha, for “Zin” that the visa decision on the EU Council of Ministers may not be taken this end is estimated to lead the process in an unknown direction, writes the newspaper “Zri” today.

After Kosovo's declaration of independence, quick visa liberalisation was a promise bringing votes to political subjects. Thus, the ruling parties for nearly a decade in succession have promised quick removal of the visa regime for the Schengen area. That visas will soon be lifted to citizens this year as well as to be told by power, but are now beginning to give signals that there will be no decision during 2018 unless the necessary support of EU member states is secured.

Opposition subjects, but even connoisseurs of integration processes, say promises of visa liberalisation over the years have witnessed the political immature of institutions leaders. According to them, Kosovo has so far failed to testify as a success story in fighting organised crime and corruption. Opposition and analysts say the most positive scenario for this process is for the decision to be made during 2018, while liberalisation goes into effect next year.
