KFOR's chief spokesman, Vincenzo Grasso, stated that during the recent visit of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci to northern Kosovo, there has been no incident, arrest or military operation, and that Thaci has the right to move throughout Kosovo, without permission, broadcast Koha.net reporting Demosta.r.
We confirm that there was no incident, no arrest, any military operation, and no assault on anyone. Thaci has visited this territory and, during the visit, has accompanied the Kosovo Police team for the protection of important personalities”, told Gasso portal Demostat, commenting on Kosovo President Hashim Thaci's recent visit to Gazivoda and on the tensions it caused, Koha.net conveys.
He has confirmed that KFOR was not informed in advance of this visit, but has added that “, Mr Thaci, as the leader of Kosovo's highest institution, has the freedom to move throughout Kosovo”.
Kosovo's “Police are not obliged to ask for permission to go north to Kosovo, so they have not violated any rule”, media quoted Grasson as broadcasting Koha.net.
Grasso has said the situation in Kosovo is calm and under control and has added that KFOR invites all sides to reduce tensions at the lowest level.
KFOR spokesman has said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic are right when they say the Kosovo Security Forces need KFOR permission to go to the northern part of Kosovo, but added that “as the Kosovo Security Forces and no paramilitary or special units have accompanied Thaci, unlike some reported in the news<x1
After leaving this territory, Mr. Thaci, there were several blockades in Zubin Potokl, clearly for no reason. KFOR has not intervened, since blockades posed no danger to security and free movement, while in the meantime KFOR units are involved in monitoring the major protest in Pristina, in which some 13 thousand people have participated”, KFOR spokesman Coha.net has said.
