Kosovo is receiving heavy shocks from a large number of European Union states in the final phase of the visa liberalisation process. At meetings recently held in Brussels, it has become known that there are more than 10 states that oppose abolishing visas for Kosovo.
Even Minister Grant Hoxha the day before made known to “Zerin” that the visa removal decision may not be made this year.
Kosovo citizens' expectations have been that this year at least the visa liberalisation decision for the Schengen area be made.
However, this is not expected to happen because the decision-making process under the European Union has been blocked due to the reluctance of many member states of this union. At the last meeting, held by ambassadors of European Union member states, known as COREP, it has proved that 12 or 13 EU states are still reluctant to support such a decision.
That the decision by EU institutions may not be made this year has confirmed days before the Minister of European Integration gift Hoxha to the newspaper “Zer”
