For those who look forward to eating a piece of birthday cake, they may have to think twice.
New data indicates that the ritual of burning candles can fill dessert with bacteria. A group of researchers from Clemson University in South Carolina found that the saliva for candle breathing increases bacteria on cake by 1,400 percent.
Dr. Paul Dawson, a university professor, conducted a study with a group of his students to make them think about safety. I took it from my daughter as we were talking at a regular dinner when I was explaining to her the” project, Dawson says. Despite the outcome of the study, Dr. Dawnson says this data shouldn't ruin birthday parties.
You're fine if you eat somebody's birthday cake that blew out candles. I don't think you're gonna get sick”, he explains. However, he does not deny that he would avoid eating the cake of someone who might seem tired, but otherwise there is no problem.
