147th anniversary of the birth of Djerdia Fish

Politian, cleric, writer Gjergj Fisha, was born in the small village of Zadria on October 23, 1871.

Six years old, he was sent to the French Seminari of Shkodra. In 1880 he continued his studies at the French College in Troshan, where he finished high school. He was a student of Arbe poet Leonardo De Martino. In 1886 he continues his studies of philosophy and theology in Bosnia. In 1893 he returned to Albania, and in 1984 he began his work as an Albanian - language professor in the Troshan Seminari.

By 1899 Fista writes with the Albanian alphabet of Franciscans. In January of that year, he becomes co-founder and active member of society “Bashim”, which the poet Preng Doci directed. The alphabet of this society also published the creations of Fishta of this period. In 1902, the director of French School is appointed in Shkodra. In 1908 he participated in the Monastery Congress as representative of society “Union”, where he was elected chairman of Congress and directed the work of the Alphabet Commission.

In October 1913 Fista founded the magazine “Lightstar” and was its director. In 1916 he published the magazine “The Pressure Post”. But in 1916 with Louis Gurakucin, Ndje Mjeda, Matti Logorec, etc. They set up the Paper Committee in Shkodra. Early in April 1919 and during 1920 is Secretary General of the Albanian delegation at the Paris Peace Conference. In December 1920, the Macedonian MP is elected in the Albanian Parliament. In April 1921, the first meeting of Parliament is elected deputy speaker. 1925 and 1926 are over in Italy.

After returning to Albania, the final stage of Fishta's creativity begins. He releases full publication of the great work “Malzia's Laha” (1937). Fish being Latin connoisseur, ancient Greek, Italian, French, Slavic languages. His literary activity, in addition to the books, was published in 15 newspapers and magazines inside and abroad, where he used 24 nicknames.

For poetic, educational, native, and religious activity Gjergj Fishha received various honours. In 1931, Greece awarded the decoration “Foenix”. In 1939, Italy became a member of its Academy. He died in Shkodra on December 30, 1940.
