It is located at the border of the two countries -- Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia -- near the city of Bihac. Thus, she was also known as Bihac Airport.
The airport operated fully from 1968 to 1992, when it was destroyed during the withdrawal of the APJ from explosive activism, reports “Warhistoryonline”, Periscopi broadcast.

Yugoslavia's Socialist Federation Republic (SFRJ) has invested about $6 billion in its construction. Eventually, only ruins remained. Possible efforts to rebuild the air base are limited by the lack of financial resources.
The main advantage of the air base was its strategic location; it was deeply located on Yugoslavia's territory balanced by the most important targets and objects.
The main goal of the air base was to protect and distract potential aggressors in the former Socialist Republic.
Consequently, it has always been in the interest of foreign intelligence agencies. This has been tested nowadays through the declassification of CIA spy satellites that have been monitoring the construction of this facility for years.

The air base was built in 1954 é 1968. It was built under a secret.
The Zeljava air base was in a difficult situation at the start of the war explosion in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Yugoslav People's Army's top military leader made a decision to shift aircraft, equipment, entities and civilians affected by war threats to a country in Serbia.
All that was left on base was mine. The entire complex was undermined and damaged with more than 50 tonnes of explosives on May 16, 1992. A facility for visitors was scheduled to open in 2004-2005, but the idea was abandoned.
Today, in the post-war period, this country, known as “vorture” between former and present residents of this region, gradually reveals its secrets to curious researchers of underground artificial areas./Periscopi/
