Renowned Albanian scholar (Photo) writer dies in American hospital

Tonight, the renowned writer, poet and scholar Basri Capriqi died at the American hospital in Pristina.
Basri Capriqi was born in Ulcinci in 1960. He finished his high school in Ulcinj. At the University of Pristina, he studied Albanian literature, where he received the philological science magistrate's degree in 1988. In 2004 he takes the science degree Ph. D. in Pristina in the field of philological science. He worked professor at Pristina University, where he legalized the classes; Stystics, Semiology and contemporary poetry. His poetry is included in many anthology of Albanian poetry and in anthology of contemporary poetry in different languages. Poetry have been translated into English, French, German, Romanian, Polish, Serbian, Turkish, Arabic, Macedonian. He was the chairman of PEN the Kosovo Centre and the founding one in 2004. He was head of the Pristina University Board, and by 2012 he was a member of the Albanian Academy of Arts and Sciences.
He wrote poetry, literary critics, essays, publicists. He has published seven collections of poetry and five books of literary criticism and research. The most well-known poetry books are: “Critical books: “Symbol and rivals”, “Kadarean parameter” etc.
He received several literary awards for his poetry: The Gjakova Poetry Miting Award (1996, 2007), the Year's Award of Art Club, Ulcinj, Lasgush Poradeci, Albania (1992), Silver Medale, at the International Salon of The Academy Europe Des Arts, Brussels (2007), etc.
