Part of the Serbian Orthodox Church leaders fear that Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq is preparing to recognise Kosovo's independence.
Among them was the most vocal one representing Montenegro and the coast, Amfilohije, accusing Vuciq of treason. These statements have come after a church appeal for the protection of Kosovo that has triggered harsh reactions.
“Kisa is against anyone to recognise Kosovo. But they are divided into those that need dialogue with both Vucinac and Albanians and those who oppose any dialogue”, says Dusan Janjaq, from the Forum for Interethnic Relations.
Critics from the church come when Serbian power tries to find solutions through an internal dialogue for eventual solution.
There are many who believe Kosovo's independence should be recognised and there is nothing to talk about. But that's not what Vucic wants and I can't do. The best analysis was given by Edi Rama, who said the only solution is independence, but no one will be under Vuciq's skin, since it is known that the only solution is independence. But here solutions without great powers cannot have”, Dusan Janjic said.
Brussels' talks have halted, but are always talking about intensifying dialogue.
