The BBC's best-read news speaks of a concern published in one of the world's largest scientific magazines. Close jeans can seriously endanger muscles and nerves, experts say.
A 35-year-old woman was forced to cut off her jeans after her thighs swelled heavily, the study said. She had worked for several hours at home, wearing the jeans.
In the evening her legs became numb, and she fell because she could not walk. Doctors said she was touched by what is called the partition syndrome. The jeans had adversely affected muscles and nerves. After just four days of intensive treatment, the woman was able to walk.
Other doctors have reported similar cases of this syndrome resulting from jeans or narrow pants.
