Minister of Integration calls for approval of the demarcation “

On January 15th, the Kosovo Assembly returns to work after the winter break. On Monday, the parliamentary Commission for Foreign Affairs will discuss the border demarcation agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro, and will decide on further proceedings at the next session.

Minister Hoxha, in an interview for Online Economy, has shown hope that the agreement will receive the support of MPs and demarcation to move to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.

“Now has become a very long time from the recent decision when Kosovo was given the opportunity to meet the two remaining conditions to enjoy the process of free movement, the visa liberalisation process. But unfortunately he's gone. The agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro is still envisioned in the Assembly”.

I want to use the opportunity to call on members of the Parliament, MPs, to cross this agreement and really enjoy citizens and 2018 to be one year when our citizens will move freely and they will not be the only citizens who remain isolated”.

Let's stop this disaster and give our citizens freedom of movement”, Hoxha says.

In this interview, Hoxha has reiterated the goal that this year Kosovo should apply for membership candidate status in the European Union.

“In any proposal that senior EU officials have made, in their discussions whether they are public or whether their written publications, show that the region, so the Western Balkans, has a future, a clear perspective for 2018, so it is a window. And I've said in my past presentations that we as Kosovo should use in 2018 to achieve as much integration as possible and to reach out for the processes starting for the” region.

It's more important that we do our job, so we fulfill our obligations. And it is not by chance that we are mentioning that at the end of 2018, we will apply for candidate status, because we want to make it clear that Kosovo is part of the integration process of the Western Balkans' integration”.

According to the Kosovo minister, there can be no integration or expansion if Kosovo is not part of these plans for further enlargement. / EO
