The international community has once again called for efforts to abolish the Special Court.
A day before the Law on Distinction of this Court issued at the International Assembly's Headship has appealed to give up any idea of abolishing the Special Chambers, Zeri writes today.
The Office of the European Union (BE) in an answer given “Zit” during yesterday has warned that the attempt to undo specials clearly jeopardises Kosovo's reports with the EU. Even the US Embassy in Kosovo, German and Norwegian, have demanded that the 43 MPs' initiative to break up the Special Court be finally abandoned. Since the Parliament's Headship had failed to hold the meeting on December 22, 2017, to set up the extraordinary session to abolish this Court, it will be assembled during the next day (where the Special Chambers Displacement Bill will be in order), writes Zeri.
EU: Attempts to abolish Specials mar Kosovo reports
The European Union has called for the withdrawal of initiatives for the break-up of the Special Court. In a pronomation for the newspaper “Voice” The EU office in Kosovo has said that for such a thing the EU has called for since this initiative was made public (December 22nd of last year). The EU office has since warned that any attempts to undo the Special Court jeopardise the reports between Kosovo and the European Union. “In 2015 Kosovo made a clear commitment with the EU and the rest of the international community to establish Specialised Chambers. For the EU, this showed Kosovo's full commitment to rule of law. Any attempt to abolish or change the mandate of the Specialised Chambers would seriously damage such commitment and jeopardise the EU's joint work in Kosovo on the rule of the law done in recent years. Therefore, this would negatively affect Kosovo's relations with the EU”, the response said.
