Ferizaj Mayor Agim Aliu has today accused past municipal governance of mismanagement by leaving the municipal level in poor financial condition and with numerous debts, so it takes a lot of work to get out of this inherited situation.
He made these comments after meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, from whom he has received support for future municipal projects for the benefit of the citizens ferizaya. He said that at the meeting it has also been talked about the challenges of local governance, which are not few, the KP reports.
“We have inherited a poor financial situation with mismanagement, worse planning and numerous obligations. Respectfully with multiple debts. But, of course, after this request we made to the prime minister, the possibilities will be studied that eventually Kosovo municipalities and the Ferizaj municipality, which is one of the municipalities that has had the worst or highest ill-management at the level of Kosovo, no more have such examples”, Aliu said.
He has stressed that as a result of mismanagement of past local governance many economic operators have entered into custody.
The “therefore is right every request of ours and any strategic project that we discussed with Prime Minister Haradinaj for future participation in the projects. We talked about many projects that were introduced and that would have a completely new dynamic and different from before. We talked about slowly being part of the budget with many strategic projects dealing with Ferizaj”, Ferizaj's leader said.
Prime Minister Haradinaj stressed that Ferizaj's municipality has a budget of 29m euros from the national level, while the government he heads will communicate with the Ferizaj municipality on all topics of interest, including education and health.
“is not good with avoiding topic. In fact, today the chairman has made a huge contribution to me. I have not faced Ferizaj's plight. I learned that a similar situation we have in many Kosovo municipalities, where preliminary mayors without a budget, pledging only 10,000 euros have entered into projects worth 5m euros. They are debt-loaded for all municipalities, and there are many cases. And that the government should make a plan to deal with this and take on these responsibilities not to be municipalities during all the years that come in charge of this debt pressure, and not be able to respond to the demands of citizens who are numerous”, Haradinaj has said.
