It is a utopia - cities built over the sea floating in an area of international waters, where people can live independent by creating new nations at the borders of other countries. This concept is determined by English as “seasteding”, which is a match of “sea” and <x4 “Contacting” for colonization. It is a project that will build populations outside the territory claimed by governments.

This is the philosophy that moves Seastencing Institute to build the first floating city in French Polynesia and this can function in 2020. If this idea is achieved, it would be the first city to receive that status. It took a 10-year job to convince investors to show it's not a utopia. When someone thinks he can live in such a town, it's impossible not to think of a movie with protagonist Kevin Costner in “Walterworld”

The project could begin in the coming months, when what will be the heart of the city, the central building, but at the moment it has been set aside to create an independent state, at least that's how the leaders of this project -- Joe Quirk and Patri Friedman -- think of it because you have to have a law in favour of building on the borders of every government. It is not known how countries close to these floating neighbours will react.

At the moment, however, French Polynesia is in favour of making the dream come true. As you can see from the images, different types of buildings, hotels, offices and restaurants are being built at a cost of 51m euros. It is estimated that the final cost could reach 142 million and that some 225 people would go there to live. /The world.al
