More than 12 million children's powder milk boxes have already been withdrawn to 83 locations after the salmonella explosion.
The indictments have been filed by parents who say that their children got sick after drinking milk. The bets include a factory in Crano, northwest of France, broadcast Inseder.
The factory was closed last month after it was thought that pollution started in one of its drying towers. Lactal spokesman Michel Nalet confirmed the presence of the police.
“Sic we have said earlier, Lactalis is co-operating with the justice authorities and will ensure everything necessary for a full development of the probe”, he told the AFP news agency.
At least 37 babies have been affected so far in France.
The Lactalis Group is one of the world's largest milk products producers, with an annual sale of $17 billion ($1 billion), has 246 production units in 47 countries and employs only 15,000 people in France.
Lastalis company officials have said they believe pollution was caused by renovation work at their Crano factory.
In a recent interview in the French newspaper Journal du Dimanche, chief executive Emmanuel Besnier denied the firm had attempted to hide the event.
Markat Picot, Miluel and Taranis have already withdrawn from the market.
