119 people have lost their lives in traffic accidents during the January period of November 2017, Police spokesman Baki Kelani has said. Meanwhile, record figures of cases that have sought aid from accidents in communications have been reached at the Emergency Clinic in Pristina.

Record numbers of cases that have sought assistance at the Emergency Clinic at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo during 2017 have been reached.

The director of this clinic, Basri Lenyan, has told Radio Kosovo that it is disturbing to increase in cases that ended fatally as a result of traffic accidents.

This year we have the highest rate in Emergency Clinic due to deaths resulting from accidents that have been more fatal. At this point, we have 21 cases recorded in our clinic as a result of injuries received at the scene of the”, Lenyan said.

Police spokesman Bucky Kelan also views the large number of fatality cases as a result of accidents in communications as a concern.

“From January to November of this year, 107 accidents have been recorded, with the fatality ending 119 people”, Kelani said.

During 2017 the record numbers have also been recorded in cases that have sought medical assistance, Dr Lenyan said.

“For this period of time, January (December 2017) marks the record number of patients who have sought emergency services near our clinic. A total of the number of sick, injured and poisoned is being brought near 55- thousand”, Lenyan says.

In the January-November 2017 period, Kosovo Police have imposed over 372 thousand fines in communications, or more than 68 thousand fines than last year, Kelani said. Meanwhile, for 2018, police will continue to implement the law on law enforcement in road traffic with the aim of preventing accidents, which during 2017 have reached record figures.
