Doubt about the contract for TC çova e Re”

No publicising the Kosovo Government contract with the company “Cuntour Global” for the construction of Thermo power plant “New Kosovo” has raised doubts in the ranks of civil society, but also the Kosovo Economic House.

Kosovo Economic Ode Chairman Safet Gerjaliu told Radio Kosovo that he wants to believe the contract is signed and that it is not a game in question.

Before the end of last year, a ceremony was held for signing the contract between Kosovo's government and the US company Contower Global for construction of TC “New Kosovo”.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, chief prosecutor Kadri Veselini, and others expressed great satisfaction with the fact that the contract was being signed as one of the biggest projects in our country since the post-war.

At the end-year conference, Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Luka had promised that in a few days the contract would be accessible to the public.

I believe today I was at a meeting where we're insisting that tomorrow I can stand by my own words I promised, open up publicly. Possibly, after being told that there may be a day or two late, but the contract will open completely, there will be nothing closed to the public”, the minister had said.

However, the contract has not yet been made public, and besides civil society, various allegations are expressed by other actors. Economic Ode Chairman Safet Gerjaliu for Radio Kosovo has declared there may be any game in the job.

I want to believe that even the long-awaited and delayed project what is “New Kosovo is signed, if it's not a game, but I want to believe it's signed, I believe it's a new opportunity for 2018 to have larger economic steps and challenges”, Gerjaliu said.

And the Ministry of Economic Development recently for the media has declared that “at the moment some small technical issues are completed, the contract will be available for publication”.

This makes the process suspicious according to the Kosovo consortium for sustainable development, COSID.

This consortium of civil society has said it is absurd for the contract to be signed before finalised.
