A State Department spokesman confirmed this but did not say whether Hoyt Yee will be named ambassador to the Balkans.
State Department comments came in response to the question of whether Yee had resigned, as media reported today, to receive a new task in the Balkans.
Yee was mentioned as ambassador to Macedonia first and then Sarajevo.
At this moment, we don't have any notice of Mr. Yee-x1>'s future task, a State Department spokesman told Voice of America.
“Sic knows, says the spokesman, American diplomats move from posts every two years, under a normal appointment process in new positions. ”
Yee has served in the current post for four years.
