Turkey's Interior Minister Sulejman Soylu has made the decision that drug dealers break their legs if they are seen performing the move.
He has been criticised by the Turkish Human Rights Association (IHD). But for this, the Turkish Interior Minister has pledged to take the whole responsibility over him.
If a merchant is near a school, police are tasked with breaking his leg. Do it and blame me, even if it costs five, 10, 20 years in prison, we're going to pay”, the Minister Soylu said.
He said the seizure of security forces or 20 tonnes of heroin in 2017 had made it a record year for drug trafficking.
He said Turkey must fight against drug dealers as it fights the Kurdistan Rebelry Party (PKK).
Mr. Soylu's comments came as a blow to many people in Turkey. Some people thanked him and praised him for what they perceived as bravery in the fight against drug trafficking.
An MP from the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has already filed a lawsuit against Mr. Soylu for “inciting to commit a crime”.
But presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said Mr. Soylu's comments showed the determination to eradicate drug abuse.
