Cigarette prices rise, that's all Albanians will now pay for a package

From today, citizens will pay 7 dollars more than 1 pack of tobacco. This is just one of the changes that brings in the 2018 fiscal package.

Niko Lera, director of Fiscal Policy at the Ministry of Finance, says the sector that enjoys the most fiscal ease is tourism, with the aim of further development. Resorts and hotels with 4 and 5 stars, for investment value over 8m euros, will not pay taxes for the first 10 years and are exempt from paying infrastructure tax.

Tax exemptions have been criticised by the International Monetary Fund, which has stressed that the government should not make preferential exemptions in taxes. That's why Principal Leah has an answer.
