California started selling marijuana to stores with the start of the new year in what is seen as an important step toward expanding this movement in the country.
Hundreds of people took turns at licensed shops to sell the Saudi bar before their doors were opened, while business owners said they had established reservations knowing the demand. By the last day of 2017, marijuana in California could be sold only to those who had a medical card and bought it for these reasons, but since this year, anyone who is 21 could buy it for entertainment.
Any Californian with the right age can own up to 28 grams of marijuana and grow up to six plants at home since January 1st. California is the 6th American state that allows for the sale of marijuana to the general public and, since it is the country's most populated state, there is no doubt that it is a major impetus for the industry.
But authorities warn that marijuana is still illegal at the federal level, so you can't cross the border with it into another country, take it on a plane or send it by mail. It is expected that in a few years, the Californiar market will exceed $7 billion, more than 6.6 billion that the entire legal market of cannabis generated in the US in 2016.
