Exhausted waiting for couples to join his church, the parisher of a small parish in southeastern England has decided to impose a fine of 100 pounds for the late, says Times Friday.
Ten minutes late may be expensive, said John Corbyn, director of the two churches in Bearsted and Turnham, Kent.
Married couples stuck in a highway traffic jam or other unpredictable events have been disfellowshipped. All other couples must pay taxes, which will be re-entered by the church's religious and angjourist, such as the choir boys who have to wait for them, said the church man in the newspaper.
Of the dozens of ceremonies celebrated each year at the Church of the Holy Cross in Bearsted, a couple paid the fine. The church representative made that decision after two delays in marriage “without explanations or excuses. My team felt bad,” he told The Times.
