When British police broke into a house in Nuneato, they didn't believe what they had ahead: More than 300 cannabis roots were planted inside the house.
They arrested an Albanian, called Agim Selmanlari.
The latter had illegally entered Britain at the end of a truck meant to earn money for the sick boy in Albania.
The 32-year-old was sentenced to six months in prison after he was found guilty of developing cannabis and power theft.
Now he'll be deported.
Selmanlar himself said that he had paid 9 thousand pounds to get to Britain, while drugs kept him safe for someone else.
However, the history of his son's illness, which suffers from lung expansion, has affected the judge.
Here's what the judge said: “You came to Britain to make money so you could send it to your poor family and help your seriously ill son, who will never improve”.
It would be cruel to have no sympathy for this situation, but you're involved in an illegal activity”.
“It's about a large amount of cannabis, which is worth thousands of pounds if it was sold on the street”
I understand you're just the worker here, under the orders of the big criminals”
You'll probably be deported to Albania”.
