By journalist Sory Chalandon for Ahmet ʼik
I don't know what a man would like for someone behind bars. If I were free, I'd blow all my hatred before the wire. If I were a bird and fly over the city, I'd break the clouds and go down to prison. Like I smell and blow, under the big drawer and scream. If I could take power from the water, salt, and sand of Marmara, even from the rains to fall, and blow on the prison walls until they tremble.
Let me be a free man, a bird or a wind, for you I only have one desire, and that is justice.
You're not just Ahmet. Family, relatives, friends you have in Turkey and all over the world, we are all guards of your deprived freedom, we are the birds that fly on top and the wind that swells.
The laughter of your children will make you forget the suffering of this injustice.
