But unlike other years, the Ministry of Science and Technology this year has not provided textbooks for all primary school students.
The Ministry of Education has decided that the books for this year are available for students from the first to the fifth grade, while students from sixth to ninth grade will reportedly exploit pre-generation texts.
But from the Parents ' Council as well as students themselves, they say that texts used by the preliminary generations cannot be very effective because they are either damaged or useless, especially when it comes to workbooks.
Arber is an eighth grade student. He says that not all books used for a year can be used.
I'm not expecting this thing well. Because we know the problems we're going to face in those books. For example, the work notebook is complete, since we in the seventh grade did the same. Then, books can be highly damaged”, Arber says.
Worried about the Ministry's decision, the Kosovo Parents' Council also says. According to them, some of the books cannot be functional by using the quality of texting.
Bajram Beqiri, leader of this Council, tells Radio Free Europe that exploiting some of the books from the previous years will negatively affect students. He even doubts that all textbooks can be found.
We have also had remarks on the quality of paper and, as such, have not been well preserved by students, and I believe they are damaged and do not meet sufficient criteria to use for another year”, Beqiri says.
On the other hand, education ministry officials consider that using books from previous generations cannot present any difficulties in the learning process.
Mustaf Kadriu, director of the Pre-university Department, says the commission formed by the Ministry on the issue has estimated that books can be used.
A commission assigned by the Ministry of Education has estimated that books are functional, as students are of age where they can identify accuracy even if there was something written. But students from the first to fifth grade cannot judge the accuracy of data in books. So we've decided that the low level of education received free books”, says Kadriu.
However, the student, by the name of Arber, feels that he will buy books for the eighth grade because he cannot learn from the books already used.
I haven't bought the books so far, but I've heard from my friends that books are very expensive”, Arber relates.
In Pristina bookstores, textbooks from sixth to ninth grade are brought from 1.5 to 2.5 euros per book. But there are also more expensive texts, such as the Book of Music or the Geographic Atlas, costing between 3.5 and 8 euros.
In the Publishing House, “The school book” says there are enough texts on the market. Bajram Shatri, director of this Publishing House, says the books are already on sale and corrected.
“ ) The school book all textbooks from class to ninth, all that it has allowed from the Ministry of Education, are in libraries and can be bought by their students or parents”, says Shatri.
In contrast, this school year is also followed by more than 350 thousand students in about 1,200 school objects with over 20,000 teachers.
