Texas will cost this amazing amount of money to recover

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said his country's recovery after Hurricane Harvey could cost $180 billion.

He said the damages are worse than the ones that caused Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed New Orleans in 2005.

But, the head of the government disaster management agency said countries hit by floods should not rely on Washington.

Brock Long said Harvey should be the wake-up call for local officials.

The recovery operations are under way in Texas and Louisiana.

The devastating hurricane has landed last week and claimed at least 47 lives.

About 43,000 people are staying in shelters.
