From the map published by them, Albanians take an average of 5,500 to 6,000 steps a day. Compared to the countries of the region, Albanians move more during the day. Greeks are at the interval of 4,000-4,500 steps a day, while Macedonians are at the 5,500-step interval.
Mount ZI, Kosovo and Serbia are estimated to take about 45,000 steps a day. Stanford researchers used smartphones to track its level of activity to thousands of people around the globe. Considering that 5.3 million people die in the world because of a lack of movement, researchers measured activity in millions to find out why obesity is a greater problem in some lands than in others.
The study used smartphone data to analyze the behavior of 717 thousand men and women in 111 states whose steps were studied for more than 95 days.
Wise Steps and Phones
Smartphones are equipped with little sensors called axelometers that automatically record every step. Researchers collected the data on this study from the Azumio Argus program, which traces physical activity and health behavior. Auzmio anonymously enabled demographics such as age, gender, height and weight. The last two records enabled researchers to estimate the Body Mass Index per person.
More Active States
Compared to other countries, Hong Kong has more active citizens, who take an average of 6,880 steps a day. Researchers also found that the British are the most active compared to their neighbours, with an average of 5444 steps a day, equal to 5km. On the other hand, the world's most lazy are Indonesians who stand last in the ranking with an average of 3513 steps a day. This number is much lower than the world average of 5,000 steps a day.
