This event was organised by non-profit humanitarian organisation “From cover to smile”, which for five years has accumulated lids of plastic bottles and used them to collect money for children with special needs.
Organisers said the mosaic in the centre of the city is 621 square metres, with ecological motives as well as Novi Sad symbols.
Hundreds of volunteers, mostly children and young people have worked to collect 800 thousand covers for the project, writes Radio Free Europe.
Over five years, the organisation has collected 100 tonnes of cover.
With 6 tons of cover, only one car can be bought for people with special needs.
