Syrian forces have taken over the fortified area near Deir ez-Zor that was hit by Russian missiles, which Moscow says killed over 200 jihadists.

According to the foreign media's record, it tracks Telegrafi, remains of weapons, explosives, and damaged armoured vehicles were found at the site where terrorists were hiding.

While Syrian troops were cleaning the area, it further says, they discovered a massive network of underground tunnels used by terrorists to deposit, ammunition and food.

The large number of weapons, as well as considerable food supplies and remaining medicines, show they are preparing for a long-term defence of their positions, Russia's Defence Ministry has said in a statement Wednesday.
