Interpol has accepted Palestine as a new member of this organisation, is why there were objections from Israel.
The International Police Organisation has supported the state membership of Palestine at the annual General Assembly.
Palestine Foreign Minister Riyadh al-Maliki has called this membership a victory, enabled by the principled positions of most Interpol members.
Israel has tried to postpone this vote, saying Palestine is not a state, so there is no right to membership.
Five years ago, however, the United Nations General Assembly has granted Palestine status of non-member state.
