This year it was expected that Kosovo would run for admission to Interpol, but Haradinaj has indicated that Kosovo has not secured enough votes for accession.
This announcement comes a day after Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli declared in the KTV interactive that problems have also been posed by the host of the next summit, China, which was failing to issue visas for Kosovo officials.
This is the prime minister's full announcement:
Kosovo's membership in Interpol is directly contributing to the fight against international crime and terrorism.
The Republic of Kosovo is willing to assume full responsibilities as an Interpol member.
Confidence in Kosovo as an Interpol member has already expressed many countries, but not in sufficient numbers for Kosovo to join the organisation.
As Kosovo prime minister, I have made the decision today to postpone Kosovo's application for membership in Interpol for the upcoming meeting of this organisation.
I thank all of the evolutionists from the Kosovo institutions, but I also thank all international partners and invite all of us to work for Kosovo to be voted an Interpol member.
