Why did Meta and Rama refrain for the “scandal of the year”?

“Covering” of the statue of the Albanian nation's hero Gjergj Kastriot-Skenderbeu, on the day of the prayer of Kurban Bajrami, in the square with the same name in Tirana, has sparked widespread accusations and controversy among Catholic and Muslim Albanians.

But, in terms of this event, the reactions of the presidents and prime ministers of Albania and Kosovo have been missed. Neither Ilir Meta nor Hashim Thaci reacted, neither Edi Rama nor Isa Mustafa. The same has been done by former Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who is known for his activities on social networks.

But how is their failure to respond to Albanian opinion seen? For this, in a pronomation to the newspaper “Bota today”, noted publicist and writer Gani Mehmetaj has spoken. He has said he had to react to Meta and Rama, since the scandal under him occurred in Tirana and not in Pristina.

According to Mehmetaj, the desecration of the national hero is done with the knowledge of Prime Minister Rama and Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj.

The Meta Rate “must react because the scandal has occurred in Tirana. If they could cover Gjergj Kastriot's September in Pristina, then they should respond to our personality. He stressed that in a normal country, the mayor would be fired.

By contrast, in a response to Albanian media, Albanian capital's mufti Ylli Gurra has clarified that there have been mostly technical conditions that have led to “detection” of the statue”, but without purpose.
