While the vote, which is likely to result in independence, is non-binding, it will give the Kurdish government more grounds to seek a special citizenship in northern Iraq, said “Alzeera”, Periscopi broadcast.
The KR is known in the Iraqi constitution as the official authority of the provinces of Duhok, Erbili, Sulaimaniya and Halabya (which was built by Sulaimaniya in 2014).
It has its own parliament, based in Erbali's capital, and military forces, known as Peshmerga. The KR's budget is divided by the Iraqi federal government.
The Iraqi government and several other countries, including the United States of America and Turkey, have rejected the referendum./Periscopi/
