Given the high risk of traffic, this summer's accidents, but also the beginning of the school year where traffic gets more intense and therefore more uncertain for children, Kosovo Police, the Temple Technical Science College and the Kosovar Motorisation Association have called on all participants in traffic for increased care during the street movement.

This call for increased road safety, addresses all motor vehicle drivers, so that during their movement on the road they will be vigilant and act by respecting the rules and signs of traffic, and being attentive and responsible for the presence and movement of other participants on the street. Particularly in school environments, increased care so that child safety can be increased along the way from house to school, and in turn. Children require attention and attention added during crossing the road and their movement into groups”, a joint communique says.

While children are still lacking in physical education for proper traffic behavior, experts from these institutions on the basis of advanced research conducted with students in local schools regarding the safety of children on the street provide some guidelines and recommendations with concrete measures for parents and children on the eve of the new school year:

Parents travel to accompany their children under the age of 10 from house to school, and in turn, unless the school is at all nearby and the children have no choice.

Parents should make sure that their children know the rules of safe movement on the street and make sure that they know the traffic signs that belong to them.

Association of children from house to school and in turn should take place until parents make sure that their children know the road sufficiently and practice the entire instruction by moving safely.

Parents should instruct their children to use the same route daily and avoid unnecessary shortcuts and intersections, parking lots, etc.

Children should have comfortable clothing to move about freely (not clothing that limits their movement). It is possible that your children will be placed in bags or outside clothes in flune strips to be more easily observed by other traffic participants.

Travel and teach your children not to move on the road between parked vehicles, workshops, or other obstacles on the road.

Parents are instructed to receive from teachers or stewards the exact starting and finishing of school and daily monitoring the time and security of children's movements.

Always guide and teach your children that on the way, they must be seen on both sides of the road before crossing the street. Do not cross the street even when there are bright signs for free passage, without looking back at both sides of the road and then making sure they cross the other side of the road.

Children should be instructed and taught not to stop on the road and if they feel insecure to seek help from adults.

Parents make sure that the transportation of their children, from house to school, and vice versa is done regularly and safely by licensed vanbuses and other motor vehicles.

Subtitles: Parents travel to park farther from school and walk to school, in contrast to constantly blocking roads in the vicinity of schools, they also unwittingly risk the safety of students”, states the communique.
