Up to a year waiting for heart surgery at QKUK

The one who has been lying in this department for three and a half months, who says he has waited two months from the Ministry of Health to issue the means to buy surgery materials.

I'm lying here for three and a half months, waiting for surgery, having a heart attack, changing a valve and a bypass... before this period I've been lying here for three and a half months. Two months we've been waiting for the ministry to leave the means to buy the operating parts”, he said.

But Nustret Kajtazi is not the only patient in this clinic waiting to undergo heart surgery, since Besim Sokoli from Mitrovica says he has waited a few months, but he argues with lack of staff and working materials at this clinic.

He also said that treating patients at this clinic is excellent and that jobs are being performed in this clinic as in the west.

I've waited a few months, but rationally because two to three months there's no extenuating material here, as well as the small capacity here that there were urgent cases which had to be handled before me”, the patient added.

Regarding the long wait for surgery at the Invasive Cardiurgy Clinic, the cardiac surgeon Raif Cavolli, who for Kosovo Preress, has also said that this clinic has a lack of staff and working conditions, as operations perform only 3 surgeons.

He has also said that for 18 months, 222 operations have been conducted and that they do not have the support and conditions required by the Ministry of Health and KSF.

“Since June, mid-June and the moment we're talking about we've had a very big problem with material, this is another problem that we're interested in because in cardiokirrugy we don't dare to pressure patients to buy materials, these are not materials bought in Kosovo's drugs, it's going to be very specific materials, which are bought in very specific places, and these are normally delayed, we've made the demands that in February, with some logs, the materials that are now beginning to come... The long-standing procedures of buying these materials, the procedure should not exist in a normal place because these must be done on the basis of requirements, we have led to this situation and we have to say that we have to do planning on how many operations we have to perform, with this capacity we have to perform about 150 operations within”, he said.

According to Chavolle, the length of waiting for surgery at this clinic also determines the patient's health condition, since when patients have the most urgent condition, there should be an intervention as quickly as possible, and there are patients who can wait for several months, and that such lists of expectations are available in America, Norway, and anywhere in the world.
