Fatal accidents on the streets of Kosovo have increased. Police have made it known that the number of accidents is on the rise, while the cause is human and poor roads. Police appeal to increase caution in order to avoid the worst in traffic.
The number of deaths in road traffic has increased to 18%. According to Kosovo Police data, based on the January-July period, traffic accidents have killed over 70 people and over 7 206 have been injured.
If this data is compared to last year, it has been this year; as a result of accidents, 20 more people have died, compared with the same period last year.
Feriz Lahu, captain of the Kosovo Police, told RTK that in addition to the human factor, according to police, accidents are also the poor road infrastructure.
Police appeal for respect of the rules in traffic, meanwhile, cautions that fines will not stop for all offenders. The number of fines has increased by over 12% due to disobedience to the rules.
According to police, 9 thousand 981 road accidents have occurred in the last 7 months, while more than 24 thousand fines have been imposed.
